It’s not long until the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the most anticipated automotive event of the summer, kicks off in California.

For this year’s event, we’ve already learned of some exciting reveals, including the Bugatti Chiron Divo, the Audi PB18 e-tron, and the first ever appearance of U.S. soil of the Polestar 1. Used to present concept cars at these special events, the Japanese from Infiniti announced on Friday the arrival of their rival to the Audi PB18, an unnamed “electrified performance concept car.

The model to be shown starting August 23 is the first car created by the carmaker’s new design director, Karim Habib. Its visual appearance will give the world a glimpse of the future design lines of the brand, as well as of the electric technologies that will make it into production starting 2021.

There are no details on the model available yet, and we only have the above mind-twisting teaser image to work with when imagining the car.

The last concept car presented by Infiniti was the Q Inspiration concept, shown at the Detroit Auto Show. This too was presented as a basis for a new electrified vehicle platform aimed at becoming part of the quintet of new vehicles to be launched on the Chinese market over the next five years.

Last year at Pebble Beach, the carmaker showed off with the Prototype 9, a concept car that used an electric motor rated at 148 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, and was powered by a 30-kWh battery.

The Prototype was designed as a retro e-roadster inspired by open-wheel Grand Prix cars of the 1940s.

Back in early 2017, the company’s president stated that Infiniti will be launching an electric sports car on the market by 2020, using the technology pioneered by Nissan in its EVs. Unfortunately, we’re yet to see anything other than more concepts from Infiniti.
