Louisville first to clinch slot in College World Series



Drew Ellis belted a pair of solo homers as Louisville became the first school to clinch a College World Series berth with a 6-2 victory over Kentucky on Saturday in Louisville, Ky.

Left-hander Brendan McKay (10-3) struck out nine in 6 2/3 innings for the Cardinals (52-10), who advanced to the CWS for the third time in five seasons.

Josh Stowers had an RBI triple in the sixth inning and Logan Taylor added a run-scoring double in the eighth as Louisville completed a two-game sweep of its rival in the NCAA super regional series.

Sean Hjelle (11-4) allowed four runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings for Kentucky (43-23), which made its first super regional appearance.
