Watch: Pittsburgh Steelers’ Le’Veon Bell shows off quickness in pickup hoops

June 26 (UPI) — All-Pro running back Le’Veon Bell looked mostly healed from offseason groin surgery while playing basketball this weekend.

NFL free agent safety Alden Darby posted a video of Bell balling in California. He posted the footage on Sunday.

“The bro @L_Bell26 out here in Cali going to work on the court,” Darby wrote on Twitter.

Bell took a few jab steps and crossed over his competition, coasting to the basket for a finger roll on one drive. On another drive, he hit the defender with a lightning stutter-step before netting two more points.

Bell retweeted the video and other links talking about his improved health status.

The 25-year-old managed 1,884 yards from scrimmage and nine scores despite missing four games last season. He had core muscle surgery in March, but has skipped the team’s offseason workouts since being given the franchise tag.

Bell is set to make $12.1 million in 2017, unless the Steelers work out a long-term contract by the July 17 deadline. The two-time All-Pro has yet to sign the franchise tender and was not required to attend minicamp, as he is not actually on the team’s roster. reporter Bob Labriola reported that he does not expect Bell to holdout and he expects him to play under the franchise tag if a long-term deal isn’t reached.

Darby attended the Steelers’ 2015 minicamp.
